But the pool is what really won us over. It’s a big, saltwater pool that’s heated, so we ended up in there almost every day. Some mornings we’d just relax by the water, and most evenings we floated around until the sun dipped behind the trees. There’s also a large hot tub next to it, which was perfect after a long day of exploring. Floating under the stars in a quiet, well-lit pool? That’s the kind of thing we didn’t know we needed.

We also loved that there were ways to stay active. There’s a pickleball court and a half-court basketball area, so we ended up playing just enough to remind ourselves we’re not in our 20s anymore. The fitness center was a nice bonus too—small but solid. We used the gym almost every day, then took a dip in the pool afterwards – such a great way to relax after a good workout! There’s even a sauna tucked in the fitness area for a little post-workout chill time. I would have loved to use it, but just ran out of time.

Throughout the year, they schedule different events and activities. While we were there over Memorial Day, they had a little BBQ and an afternoon Bingo game. One of my favorite amenities, the laundry room, was spotless, easy to use, and had an app that told us when our laundry was done. Super helpful.

One evening we wandered down to the fishing pond to watch the sunset while George checked out the different fish he was anticipating catching. It was peaceful, with just enough breeze to keep things cool. This place really had a way of slowing us down—in a good way. Plus, being just a short drive from the beach and everything in Corpus Christi made it a great base for exploring. We’re already talking about coming back. 3. Paddle the Packery Channel – Rent a kayak or paddleboard and explore the calm waters between Mustang Island and Padre Island. You might see dolphins, sea birds, and even jumping fish.
4. Stroll through the South Texas Botanical Gardens & Nature Center – A peaceful spot with walking trails, butterfly gardens, parrots, orchids, and even gators! Great for a slow, scenic afternoon.
